At the 110th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Periodontology(AAP) held in San Diego in 2024, Dr. Katsuhiko Akiyama was selected as one of the “10 Most Influential Figures in Global Dentistry” and was honored for his achievements. This recognition is a significant milestone for Japanese dentistry. For 24 years, Dr. Akiyama has been an international member of the AAP, dedicating himself to the advancement and globalization of Japanese dentistry. His longstanding efforts have now been acknowledged, marking a significant moment for the entire Japanese dental field. This award is not merely for short-term achievements but rather a recognition of over 20 years of dedication to education and international collaboration.
